Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to announce the 2026 Stewardship Poster Contest!  This year, the stewardship theme “Soil. Where It All Begins” celebrates the incredible power of soil to support life in all its forms.

NACD’s Stewardship Poster Contest gives K-12 students an opportunity to share their talents and a stewardship message, and a chance to have their artwork displayed nationally.  Cash prizes are awarded for First Place posters.  The contest begins at the local Conservation District level, and advances to the state and national levels.  National winners are recognized at NACD’s annual meeting.  The deadline to submit entries for this year's Poster Contest is May 15th.

The Poster Contest is held every year in conjunction with Stewardship Week.  NACD Stewardship Week is one of the largest national programs to promote natural resource conservation. Celebrated annually since 1955 between the last Sunday in April and the first Sunday in May, NACD Stewardship Week reminds us of our individual responsibilities to care for natural resources.  During Stewardship Week, local conservation districts and their state associations educate the public on the importance of soil health, water quality, pollinator habitat and other conservation topics. The NACD 71st Stewardship Week will be April 26-May 3. Students must submit their posters to the Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District by May 15th.

Please contact the Conservation Office at 541-705-3663, or email Karen Lamson at karen.lamson@or.nacdnet.net for more information, contest details, and education materials.
