Annual Conservation Poster Contest
Attention Wasco County Students K-12!

Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to announce the 2023 Stewardship Poster Contest! This year, the stewardship theme is focused on watersheds and the theme of “One Water”.
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) hosts an annual poster contest that focuses on a different conservation topic each year. The Wasco County SWCD introduces the conservation topic and poster contest to all the local students each year to engage and educate students on the importance of soil and water conservation. The conservation topic for 2023 is One Water.
The Poster Contest is open to all students, grades K-12. Cash Prizes are awarded to the winner of each grade category, with a chance to go on to the State and National contests! The deadline to submit entries for this year’s Poster Contest has been extended to May 19th.
The Poster Contest is held every year in conjunction with Stewardship Week. NACD Stewardship Week is one of the largest national programs to promote natural resource conservation. Celebrated annually since 1955 between the last Sunday in April and the first Sunday in May, NACD Stewardship Week reminds us of our individual responsibilities to care for natural resources. During Stewardship Week, local conservation districts and their state associations educate the public on the importance of soil health, water quality, pollinator habitat and other conservation topics. The NACD 68th Stewardship Week is going on now until May 7. Students must submit their posters to the Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District by May 19th.
Please contact the Conservation Office at 541-296-6178 ext 3, or email Samantha Filbin at samantha.filbin@or.nacdnet.net or Karen Lamson at karen.lamson@or.nacdnet.net for more information, contest details, and education materials.

The Deadline to submit entries to the state level Stewardship Poster Contest is November 3rd!
